The One-Day Detox

December brings in the holiday atmosphere and the Holiday festivities. But it's never always good. December also brings flu season.

As the seasons change, it's the perfect time to re-evaluate our habits and cleanse our bodies, homes, and minds. All you need is one day to hit that reset button and help your body keep up with everything that's going on.

What to do

Drink some warm lemonade. Mix eight ounces of warm water with half a lemon (freshly squeezed) to hydrate your body and stimulate digestion.

For breakfast, a nice green smoothie can get the job done by flooding your body with antioxidants. A simple rule of thumb is to use three servings of vegetables for every piece of fruit.

For lunch, avoid the afternoon slump by eating a light lunch. Try a marinated kale salad with a cup of carrot ginger soup. Add as many different colors as you can to your salad including a healthy fat, like avocado. Avoid store-bought dressings as they're often filled with preservatives and hidden sugars. Dress your salad with extra virgin olive oil and the other half of your lemon from the morning.

For dinner, try roasted chicken with brussels sprouts; cruciferous vegetables are great for liver detoxification.

It's that simple! By avoiding what you usually have everyday, you can feel the subtle differences made in your body and will have you feeling great about yourself.
