removes dead skin cells and cleans off the toxins drawn out from your pores and is especially helpful while on a juice cleanse
Our favourite Detox Body Scrub uses ginger which, according to ayurveda, warms the body and helps to break down the accumulation of toxins in the organs, particularly in the lungs and sinuses. It cleanses the lymphatic system, which is our body’s sewage system. It's benefits when taken orally are endless but when applied on our skin, ginger does a great in cleansing too.
For this DIY scrub, you will need:
- 1 Ginger
- 1 Lemon
- 1/2 cup of Epsom salt
- Combine roughly chopped ginger and ½ cup Epsom salt in a food processor. Pulse a few times until the ginger is ground and combined.
- Transfer into a small bowl and add lemon juice.
Apply to damp skin, starting with your feet working upward and rub in circular motions for 6 to 10 minutes. Take your time and enjoy the smell of the ginger. Wipe off with warm water and a towel. The heat and the ginger will make you sweat, helping your body eliminate toxins, unclog your pores and relax the muscles.
